GMC CANYON EXTENDS MOMENTUM WITH BROADER 2017 LINEUP

New Canyon Denali, All Terrain X models expand choices, while an updated V6 engine is paired with a new eight-speed transmissions to blend performance and efficiency.

GMC is building on an already expansive mid-size truck portfolio in 2017, as the GMC Canyon lineup now includes the new, range-topping Canyon Denali and new, off-road-inspired All Terrain X, giving customers more choice in configuring a small truck to their exact tastes.

Like all GMC Denali models, the new Canyon Denali is distinguished by chrome exterior details and unique wheels, along with exclusive interior trim and content. It also features a new 3.6L V6 engine that’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

This new propulsion system is offered across the 2017 Canyon lineup, including the new All Terrain X package, which takes the popular All Terrain model farther down the trail, with Goodyear® DuraTrac® all-terrain tires, all-weather floor liners and more.

“Canyon continues to carve out its own niche as the only premium truck in the midsize segment,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “With a broader 2017 Canyon lineup and the redesigned Acadia, GMC is offering more choices for finding the premium truck or SUV that matches customers’ design preferences and capability needs.”

Additional new and revised features available for the 2017 Canyon include:

  • New 7-in. diagonal colour touch-screen with GMC IntelliLink®1
  • Standard Teen Driver Technology
  • Available heated steering wheel
  • Exterior colours2: Dark Slate Metallic, Mineral Metallic and Red Quartz Metallic

All Terrain

This special version of the popular All Terrain package offered on the SLE model is the most off-road-capable Canyon for those who travel beyond the paved path. The “X” adds Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® all-terrain tires and all-weather floor liners to All Terrain content, which includes:

  • Z71 Off-road suspension and transfer case shield
  • Body-colour grille surround and rear bumper
  • Unique interior with red stitching and heated front seats
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Unique 17” aluminum wheels
  • 3-inch round black assist steps
  • Spray-on bedliner

The All Terrain model requires the new 3.6L V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission or the 2.8L Duramax® turbo-diesel engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.

3.6L V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission

Canyon’s updated 3.6L V6, which is now paired with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, leverages technologies such as continuously variable valve timing, Direct Injection and Active Fuel Management® technology (cylinder deactivation) to balance performance and efficiency. It offers 308 hp and 275 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new powertrain offers a max. trailer weight rating of up to 3175 kg (7000 lb.)6 that is second in the segment7 only to the Canyon’s available 2.8L Duramax® diesel, which has a max trailer weight rating of up to 3493 kg (7700 lb.).6
