10-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

10-speed automatic transmission features closer gear spacing that allows the engine to operate in an optimal range at all times with varying load and terrain conditions. Electronically controlled with overdrive and tow/haul mode. Includes Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking.

Included and only available with (L84) 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine on select 4WD models, 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine or Duramax® 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I6 engine.

ACTIVE THERMAL MANAGEMENT
  • Helps the engine warm up quickly and maintain an optimal temperature for performance and efficiency
  • Once warmed, the system will pinpoint temperature levels at different locations on the engine to help give optimum combustion
  • Uses a three-actuator rotary valve system to distribute coolant through the engine in a targeted manner to help the engine run more efficiently
DIESEL EFFICIENCY

The 3.0L Duramax® Turbo-Diesel engine utilizes features like start/stop technology (with disable switch) and an engine block made of a lightweight cast aluminum alloy to help minimize fuel consumption.

QUIET PERFORMANCE

The 3.0L Duramax® was designed to be a ‘no-excuses’ engine option that not only offers excellent efficiency, but a quiet and smooth driving experience thanks to its inline-six (I-6) architecture.

AVAILABLE 2-SPEED AUTOTRAC TRANSFER CASE

Sierra offers an available 2-speed AutoTrac transfer case with an active automatic 4WD setting that provides seamless shifting between two- and four-wheel drive based on road conditions.

TRACTION SELECT SYSTEM

Traction Select System adjusts Sierra’s transmission shift points, throttle mapping and StabiliTrak® to optimize performance for the situation. The available modes in the Traction Select System are:

  • Tour
  • Sport
  • Terrain (available on 4WD models with single-speed transfer case)
  • Snow (2WD models only)
  • Tow/Haul
  • Off Road

  • The factory-installed 2” suspension lift and Rancho® shock absorbers gives you the ground clearance and the smooth ride you want when heading off-road
  • An automatic locking rear differential helps maneuver out of deep terrain
  • Hill Descent Control is activated by a push of a button on the instrument panel and uses antilock braking to help provide a smooth, controlled descent in rough terrain
  • Skid plates offer added protection up front and underbody
  • Models equipped with the available Technology Package, include an Off-Road Mode within Traction Select, which allows for a little more wheelslip than on dry surfaces, in order to help carry momentum – important on gravel or in muddy situations
  • Comes with standard Mud Terrain Tires or available All Terrain Tires

AVAILABLE INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER

Provides fingertip control and monitoring of your trailer brakes. The in-vehicle Trailering App allows drivers to program trailer brake level settings to specific trailer profiles.

When the available Hitch View is on and you back up toward the trailer, the Electronic Parking Brake will automatically set when you shift to Park, helping avoid roll and maintain hitch ball alignment.
