ABOUT SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

Side Blind Zone Alert can provide side-mirror visual alerts when a moving vehicle is detected in a side blind zone. It can help you avoid lane change collisions.

ABOUT SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

Side Blind Zone Alert uses radar sensors in the rear corners of the vehicle to detect moving vehicles in your side blind zones in adjacent lanes.

If the system detects a vehicle in the side blind zone:

  • You’ll see an amber warning light show up on the outside rearview mirror on the same side as the vehicle detected.
  • If you activate your turn signal in that direction, this warning symbol will flash as an extra warning to not change lanes.

Turning Off Side Blind Zone Alert

  • You can turn Side Blind Zone Alert off through the Vehicle Personalization menu of your infotainment system.
  • The system will remember if you turned it off, so if you turn your vehicle off, Side Blind Zone Alert will stay off. You can always turn it on again in the Settings menu.

Q&As

How is this system different from Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert?

Side Blind Zone Alert does not alert you to fast-approaching vehicles that will soon enter your blind zone. It only alerts you that there already is a moving vehicle in the side blind zone.

Will Side Blind Zone Alert automatically brake or steer my vehicle to prevent a lane change collision?

No. Side Blind Zone Alert does not operate the brakes or steer the vehicle. It is an alert system only. You always need to be in control of the vehicle while driving.

If the alert symbol in the side mirror is not lit, does that mean it’s safe to change lanes?
